ABOUT ME

We can do better.

My name is Howard Brookins III and I was born and raised in Chicago. I am a business major with a concentration in economics and public policy and a minor in political science. As long as I can remember I have been looking for the best ways to advocate for and help people, and I have done just that in my time at GW. I am a member of Deans Council for Multicultural Recruitment where we show potential GW students from underrepresented communities what their life could be like on campus. I served as a committee finance chair for class council where we dedicated our time to planning events that boosted school spirit and morale. On the program board I assisted in organizing the pre-fling, a concert to showcase student musical talent that will kickoff this year. As Co-President of the Multicultural Business Student Association I actively equip our members with the skills needed to be successful in their chosen business ventures and facilitate a forum to voice concerns of the greater multicultural community. I currently serve as Undergraduate Senator At-Large and represent all the undergraduate schools at GW. In the Student Association I am Vice-Chair of the inaugural Black Senators’ Caucus and Vice-Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee. I passed legislation to urge meaningful change to university culture, such as demanding Code of Conduct reform for racial bias, challenging officials to cease and publicly disclose its funding and motivations for investing in the fossil fuel industry, and calling out officials for . But, the university continues to ignore our most salient calls for institutional improvement. Students are constantly left out in the cold or kicked out of the room when important issues regarding the direction of the university are discussed. That is why I decided to run for President - to take my passion for the GW community and experience advocating for it to the highest student office, and demand the administration listen.
